Poverty. AIDS. Global Warming. And now…
Obesity needs to be tackled in the same way as climate change, a top nutritional scientist has said.
The chairman of the International Obesity Taskforce wants world leaders to agree a global pact to ensure that everyone is fed healthy food.
Professor Philip James said the challenge of obesity was so great that action was needed now, even without clear evidence of the best options.
Note the key words denoting power: “pact,” “ensure,” “action,” etc. The theme here is obvious: the international community, if given enough control and and enough authority, will help the children of world be healthier.
This is absurd for a mountain of reasons, most significantly the fact that most people in industrialized nations (where a lot of this power would be exercised) are obese by their own choice. You don’t see that addressed in most of these talks of government intervention. Why not? My answer is that the plan is legislate fitness.
And if twinkies are not good for the government to allow for you, neither, most likely, is this blog. Or your favorite radio talk show host. Or the counter-cultural homsechooling curriculum you or someone you know is teaching their children.
What do educated Americans do with socialism disguised as medicine?
